YMCA Blaxland OSHC operates out of a classroom at Mount Riverview Public School.

We provide Before and After School Care and Vacation Care services for children aged 5-12 years.

We aim to provide a service that encourages children to develop at their own pace, make friends and feel safe, where children are treated as individuals, needs are met and children’s ideas are encouraged.

Children develop a strong sense of identity and wellbeing, are connected and contribute to their world, are confident and involved learners and develop effective communication skills. We support and encourage children to learn through play, offering opportunities that are meaningful to children and support their learning and development.

The children’s interests are the foundations of our programs. In particular they enjoy use of the school grounds and play equipment and engage in activities such as craft, cooking, indoor and outdoor sports. Children learn about sustainability and enjoy tending to the centre’s very own veggie garden. Homework is also encouraged.

We inspire all children to engage in healthy lifestyles. We offer breakfast and afternoon tea in accordance with healthy eating guidelines. We also encourage children to participate in outdoor active play.

Our Educators pride themselves on the high level of supervision that is provided at our centre. Educators are governed by policies that are available to parents at any time. Child protection is our highest priority.

“Our Centre Coordinators have been working together in OSHC in the local community for the past 15 years. We feel our centre is an extension to the families’ home life and we not only get to know the children attending the service but also their families. We provide high-quality care and have positive interactions with the children, providing them with a safe and fun place to attend OSHC. As our centre has children from different schools, children often form friendships with peers not from their school, which they often take with them to high school.” - Debbie Laird and Allison Kemister, Centre Coordinators.
